Morjim is located in Pernem, North Goa and is famous for its pristine beaches. It is also the home to olive ridley sea turtles, which are now an endangered species. Morjim is bestowed with a green environment and elegant vistas .Several thousand tourists visit this small beach village every year. In fact, many Russians have made it their second home and you can see them on the beaches quite frequently. It is no wonder that the place is also referred as “Little Russia.” Dabolim Airport in Goa is the nearest airport to Morjim

Morjim beach known as the nesting place of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle which is an endangered species has brought many tourist to this area, also known as the second home of the Russians who have infamously taken over this beach and made it their own. Morjim is located to the South of Ashwem and is the southernmost beach in the Pernem sub district of North Goa.

The Sea Turtles

The Olive Ridley Sea Turtles are an endangered species of turtles that nest on the shores of this beach making it a protected site by the Wildlife Protection Act. This has brought many tourists and locals to this site to see the turtles and the little nests of eggs lying on the beach.

 Baga Beach is the most famous of all Goan beaches and as a tourist visiting Goa you really haven’t been to Goa if you haven’t been to Baga. Full to the brim with activities you can indulge in, Baga Beach and its surrounding areas will not give you time to get bored. There is always something exciting going on here. In the morning, the beach is a great place to lounge in, soak in the sun and interact with tourists from all over the world.

Mandrem Beach

 Mandrem is a beautiful coastal town located north of Ashvem and south of Arambol, 21 km (13 miles) away from the capital Panaji in north Goa. The sparkling water and the isolated beach offers ample opportunities to enjoy this calm and soothing locality in peace. Mandrem, Ashvem and Morjim beaches are the attractions that should top the list of every visitor’s itinerary.

Madrem is blessed with many natural gifts so ensure that you don’t miss the nearby greenery. If you are up for a walk, head to a beach, such as Terekol beach, Vagator beach or Ozran beach. The largest beach in Goa, Calangute Beach is also affectionately known as the “Queen of Beaches”. It is among the top ten beaches in the world, which means it is one of the tourist places in Goa that you should not miss. It is a big, serene beach with activities enough to fill your mind for the entirety of your trip. The beach alone is a great attraction for tourists. The beach is ideal for both the options,  lying down in the sand without the fear of being run over or trying your hand at some water sports.

There are a lot of options to choose from. The distance of Calangute from Baga Beach is not great; the two beaches are only separated from each other by some rocks. You can choose to have breakfast or lunch at Baga or Calangute. There are also many great sight-seeing opportunities near Calangute such as Morjim Beach, St. Alex Church, the Water Pond of Arambol, Ashvem Beach, the Aguada Lighthouse & Aguada Fort, Nerul River, the Friday Local Mapusa Market, River Betul & Betul Estuary.

You will find Calangute transformed into a beach for the party in Goa in the night as good as the one at Baga Beach. Since Calangute Beach is connected to most other important tourist spots in North Goa, it is a good place to reside in during your Goa visit.

Water Sports: Calangute offers the best in water sports- enjoy kayaking, sailing, wind-surfing, water snorkeling, water-skiing, and fishing here. Parasailing is also a sport you can indulge in.

Ashwem Beach

Ashwem is famous for its rocky beach that has been shaped by shellfish, giving the rocks a unique shape. The beach isn’t well known among tourists making it an ideal place for people looking for some alone time at a beautiful location.

Ashwem also stands out for its location north of the nesting place of the Olive Ridley Turtle, tourists and Animal Rights Activists come from different parts of Goa and beyond to witness this scene.

The Restaurants

Ashwem has quite a few restaurants along the roads that lead up to the beach. These range from Italian to Continental and everything in between. It isn’t just known for its posh food but also the food available in shacks. Shacks in Ashvem prepare some of the tastiest meals you’ve ever eaten, it cannot however be compared to a restaurant as they are two completely different experiences.

The Scenery

Ashvem has a beautiful scenery known for its rocks all around it carved by the shellfish. The view that the beach provides is one of the most beautiful sights ever seen. Ashwem isn’t very crowded which only adds to it beauty that would’ve been ruined amidst a large audience.

The Beach

The beach was known for having large groups of turtles coming up to the shores to lay their eggs. Tourists and foreigners would travel many miles to witness this sight. However this is currently on a decline due to pollution and other environmental hazards that are detrimental to their well being.
